Hi guys, excited to be here, and out there bushwhacking. While hunting I found a couple spots I would like to explore, even found an abandoned claim post so I think I might be onto something. How does one go about it? Can points be picked off of claimmaps or are 4 corner gps coordinates enough? Where to register claim?

Hi Norbert 77 I'm Kopperkid....got the name from working 41 years for Noranda Mines ( Copper sales) anyhoo , I just joined this site. Did anyone respond or guide you in your quest ?? I'm curios as I'm a retired senior , looking for a hobby and I was wondering if PANNING for anything is worthwhile in Ontario. If you find out something would appreciate chatting & sharing.
cheers & good luck Chris

Hello all. Buckstove, we all get the fact that you have Bears Gold Mine. Can you please stop spamming the site. I believe you have spammed this information on almost every thread. May I suggest you list your property on the Property Exchange page instead? For those of you new to Prospecting I'd be happy to provide a few tools to narrow your search. First, simplest tool to use is Google Earth. On the MNDM website you can download layers for MDI (Mineral Deposits), current mining claims/lease layers, geology, geophysics, etc and it loads it directly into Google Earth. For those of you Au panning, it is nice to load up the MDI and see where Au has been recorded in Ontario and try to find suitable locations downstream where you are not on claims that belong to someone else. If you hit the home button on the MNDM website and scroll to the bottom of the page, you will find several great links including an area where you can create your own maps using available layers and search for assessment files for work completed in your area of interest etc. My background is I currently manage the Geology department for a junior mining/exploration company with a mill in northeastern Ontario, so I'm familiar with all the steps from greenfields exploration to the mining/milling process. www.mndm.gov.on.ca/en/mines-and-minerals/applications/ogsearthIf people are truly interested, I'll try to peek in once and a while and answer questions. Quaz
